This account written in 1867 by missionary William Williams about times he lived through in New Zealand. He writes graphically of settled ordered life on one hand, to living through perilous fearful times brought about by intertribal warfare and cannibalism on the other. Chapter II in particular includes such material, and he explains why it was necessary to record these details so plainly.
